What a relaxing sight.

In spite of its seemingly serene and vulnerable appearance, don't be fooled by this relaxing beast - Bison are tough, confident animals that will react aggressively when they feel threatened.

Bison have excellent senses of hearing and smell, which covers for their poor eyesight. Their poor eyesight is also the reason why a Bison herd often goes into a stampede because they are easily startled.

But don't worry about that Bison attacking you. Just keep your distance and you'll be alright. Bison are herbivores, meaning they only eat grass and sedges.

Taking this photo was truly a privilege, as American Bison are among the endangered species due to excessive hunting. Less than 30,000 survive in conservation today, which is why the government has been taking steps into making sure these animals are protected.
