One of the greatest things about places that are untouched by man is that they retain the beauty bestowed upon them by thousands of years of natural transformation.

Such are the colorful, unique and beautiful hills of the Painted Desert in Petrified Forest National Park.

If you plan on visiting this place, you are in for a treat. I know because this place beat our expectations and hiking this part of the National Park is our favorite.

Everywhere you look is just a little different. If you are a nature lover, take a few minutes to absorb just how wonderful the view is.

The southern part of the park is not like other National Parks with amazing landscapes, but the petrified logs/wood are amazing in their own right and a must-see.

The varying colors in the sand and rocks can be described in many ways.

All I can say is, be prepared to be awed at the scenery. It is stunningly beautiful.

This park is small so you don't have to hike too far to explore the place.

Whether you visit in summer, fall or spring, you will always be amazed at the beauty of the Painted Hills!
