The Mountain Goat, also known as the Rocky Mountain Goat, is a sure-footed climber commonly seen on cliffs and ice and in the meadows of Glacier National Park.   

A popular spot to view Mountain Goats and other subalpine wildlife such as bighorn sheep, pica, and marmot, is near the Logan Pass area. Logan Pass is the highest point you can reach by vehicle in the park.  

While the lower elevation sections of the park remain open all year and provide access to many locations and activities. The alpine portions are only accessible by the epic Going-to-the-Sun Road which typically is only open from early-June to mid-October.  
We were lucky enough to be in the area shortly after the road and the Logan Pass Visitor Center that sits atop the Continental Divide at 6,646 feet opened for the season and on our hike we saw some amazing vistas, beautiful wildflower meadows and out first marmot sighting. 

We were enjoying our hike, but were really hoping to see Mountain Goats down in the valley grazing. It can be tough to spot these creatures on the rock cliffs.  

After a few hours we turned around and were making our way back to the car so we could get down off the Going-to-the-Sun Road before dark, when suddenly, we turned a corner on the hiking trail and saw this lovely creature slowly walking our way.   

We stopped and were able to capture her before she turned and disappeared under some trees.   

WOW! What an amazing Mountain Goat sighting and the shot I was able to get with the wildflowers and trees was superb.
